Zero Waste New Year Activities

This year, we’ve made a resolution to be more sustainable and we’re really excited to bring that spirit into our Sustainable New Year’s Games! We’ve taken care to provide sustainable food and decoration options, and we can’t wait for our guests to try them. What’s more, we’ve prepared some eco-friendly activities that both adults and children can enjoy together. It’s going to be a fantastic and eco-conscious celebration!

7- New Year’s Games

Sustainable New Year's Games

Here are my suggestions for New Year’s games.

Dominos

Zero Waste Activities for Preschoolers

Why not dust off that old Domino set that’s been hiding in your closet? If you’re not familiar with the game, you can easily learn from YouTube or other online resources that offer a variety of fun games to play with your domino set. It’s a great activity for both kids and adults and the more people you involve, the more enjoyable the game becomes! Plus, playing Domino’s can even help with math skills. This is a great sustainable New Year’s game that can be used every year.

Cards

Zero Waste Activities for Adults

I just wanted to mention that if you happen to have a deck of cards stashed away in a junk drawer, it could be a lot of fun to bring it out and start playing! There are so many different games you can play with a deck of cards, like Hearts, Spades, Rummy, Poker, Kings in the Corner, Spoons, Bull S*it, and many more. It’s a great activity for both adults and children alike. I actually have some really great memories of learning how to play poker with my family at a party, using pennies as our chips. It’s not just a fun, sustainable New Year’s game, it also teaches you valuable skills like math, risk management, observation, card dealing, and hand-eye coordination. Give it a try!

Board Games

Zero Waste Activities at Home

Chances are, someone in your family has some awesome board games tucked away in a closet, and that is the most sustainable New Year’s game. And hey, if not, no worries! You can always find some cool ones at a second-hand store. Speaking from personal experience, we absolutely loved playing Farkle, Phase 10, Scrabble, Boggle, and Monopoly. But fair warning, when you gather around to play these games, things can get pretty intense! It’s all part of the fun, though, and trust me, you’ll end up with some epic stories to share at future gatherings. Just a quick note, while the games themselves are kid-friendly, the level of competitiveness may vary depending on the players. So gather your crew, pick a game, and get ready for some unforgettable memories!

Glass Decoration

Zero Waste Project Ideas

Here’s a cool idea for a party gift that’s also a sustainable New Year’s activity. How about asking your guests to bring their own glass and have a blast decorating it for the new year? It’ll be a fun way for everyone to personalize their own glass, and it’ll make it super easy to know whose glass is whose. Plus, it’ll also serve as a cool memento from the party. You can use acrylic enamel paint, and it’s perfect for adults and kids alike. Trust me, the photo ops will be amazing!

Photo Booth

Zero Waste Project Management

You don’t have to set up a professional booth or anything, just hang up a sheet and gather some fun party favors for a photo opportunity. Everyone always has a camera handy, right? All it takes is someone to bring along some entertaining props and snap the pictures. The person in charge can easily send copies of the pictures to everyone, and then you can have a blast creating a virtual photo album or calendar together. We even did a hilarious calendar once with a dog-shaming theme – it was so much fun!

 Karaoke

Zero Waste Management in School

Hey, I wanted to let you know that I personally find karaoke to be quite a fun and sustainable activity. In case someone doesn’t already own a karaoke machine, they can easily find one at a second-hand store. Karaoke is a great way to have fun, particularly if you’re an adult who enjoys a few drinks. But here’s the cool part – karaoke is not just limited to adults, even children can join in on the fun! I genuinely recommend giving it a try at least once, because I believe it might pleasantly surprise you.

Heads Up!

Zero Waste Projects for Schools

This game is actually perfect for a group of friends! You can easily download and install it as an app on your phone or tablet. All you have to do is hold up your device and a word will magically appear on the screen. Then, it’s time for everyone in the group to jump in and start giving you helpful hints to guess the word. You keep guessing until you either figure it out or time runs out. The best part is that there are tons of words in different themes to keep the excitement going, and the challenge is to try and guess as many words as possible correctly within the given time limit.

That was your 7 fantastic sustainable New Year’s games and activities that will not only keep your guests entertained but also contribute to making the world a happier place. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my post on sustainable New Year’s activities.
